The 2019 Book Blogger Awards – ya tita’s nominations!

Halleu, guys, gals, and non-binary pals! Today I’m bringing to you a post that I’m super excited to write. May @ Forever and Everly started up this year’s Annual Book Blogger Awards, and urges those who will nominate to write their own blog post about it. So this is what I’m bringing to you today! If you’d like to post your own nominations, definitely check out May’s post for the categories!

Let’s get started!

Best of their Age

Pre-Teen/Teen Book Blogger: Karina @ Afire Pages

Karina is one of my fave teen bloggers ever. Her reviews are super articulate and very well-written, her views are always on point, and the blog tours I’ve been on hosted by her were extremely well-organized. I’m honestly in awe of how much she has her shit together!

Adult Book Blogger: Kaleena @ Reader Voracious

I’ve been following Kaleena for more than a year now and she’s consistently remained one of my absolute favorite bloggers. She’s such a joy to speak with not just about books, but also about socioeconomic issues and relative privilege. Her online program for getting ARCs to marginalized readers is a really great initiative too! She’s currently going on a mini-hiatus to prep for transferring her blog to a self-hosted platform and I could not be any prouder!

Best of Book Blogging

Best Book Reviews: Zia @ Accio! Blog

You have not LIVED until you’ve read one of Zia’s blog reviews – especially her reviews of books she didn’t like. Her Book Talk series contains some of the most in-depth reviews I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading, and I honestly believe all aspiring authors should check out her blog to make sure they avoid some deadly writing pitfalls!

Best Book Recommendations: Shealea @ Shut Up, Shealea

I already knew I had to nominate Shealea for one of the categories in this year’s Book Blogger Awards, but I wasn’t sure which one until I saw this category. I have literally never read anything recommended to me by Shealea that I disliked. Full five stars for her in this category!

Best Discussion Posts: Shri @ Sun and Chai

Shri’s discussion posts are the absolute best. Her series #RepresentationMeans, which started off with a piece about her background as a bharatanatyam dancer, is one of my favorites. All her discussion posts are well-researched, painstakingly written, and utterly thought-provoking!

Best Blog Aesthetic: Lily @ Sprinkles of Dreams

I’m an utter sucker for clean, white, minimalist content, and Lily’s blog layout is the blog layout of my dreams! I mean, look at it. It’s the perfect page to have open on a sleek laptop that’s laid out on a glass table next to a vase of flowers. That, plus the fact that Lily writes some A+ reviews too, makes her a shoo-in for this category!

Best Blogging/Writing Voice: CW @ The Quiet Pond

The minute I read the title of this category, I just knew I was going to nominate CW for it! The concept of The Quiet Pond is one of the most unique I’ve encountered, and I highly enjoy reading all the posts in the various voices of Xialong, Gen, Varian, and Amina, as well as her guest-posters Cuddle and Stella!

Most Engaged in the Community: May @ Forever and Everly

Idk if this is allowed in the rules or not, but I just had to nominate May for this one! She deserves to be rewarded for all the hard work she put into hosting this year’s book blog awards, and I definitely think she represents the ideal of being most engaged in the community for taking on this project.

Best Social Media Influencer: Mel @ Mel To The Any

My birthday twin is the multi-platform kween, and her content is always A+ whether that’s on her blog, her twitter, her booktube, or her bookstagram. And this social media influencer isn’t just about cute photos or quirky videos – her content is woke af too. I’ve always felt that Mel embodies what an influencer should be: someone who’s responsible and aware of her privilege, voice, and position in the community!

Best Personality: Vicky @ Vicky Who Reads

Vicky is always such a pleasure to chat with! Her reviews and lists are always interesting to read and super informative, and her tweets are always thought-provoking, witty, or hilarious. Also, her discussion posts are very polite and informative while also managing to be just a little bit shady! Honestly, if you haven’t followed Vicky yet, you’re missing out on a lot of quality content!

Friendliest Member of the Community: Tiffany @ Read By Tiffany

There’s one word that encompasses all of Tiffany: adorable. From her cute pink blog to the open, charming way she interacts with nearly everyone in the community (and even writes negative reviews in a nice, butter-would-not-melt-in-my-mouth way), Tiffany is definitely one of the warmest, friendliest bloggers I’ve ever met. That combined with some awesome Asian repping reviews makes her one of the best blogs to check out! She recently got her own domain and I am so proud of her!

Best at Promoting Diverse Books – Nandini @ Unputdownable Books

Nandini’s efforts at promoting diverse books are damn near unparalleled. From her blog, to her bookstagram, to her book club Stars & Sorcery (dedicated to reading SFF books by authors of color) and being a part of Indian Lit Readathon, you know this is someone who has made it her blog’s raison d’être to promote diverse reads!

Most Important

Best New Book Blogger – Riza @ Pages and Coffee Cups

I got to following Riza just a few weeks ago, and her blog is very quickly becoming one of my favorites! There’s not much on it yet, since she only started it last April, but the reviews she does have up are so insightful and stimulating, and I honestly can’t wait to see more from her! Her bookstagram photos are really pretty as well!

Best Small Book Blogger – Caitlin Althea

Speaking of book bloggers that are becoming new favourites, I first started following Caitlin when she joined my pasabuy list of copies of The Weight of Our Sky from Malaysia when Shealea and I went to Kuala Lumpur. Her following is small, but I believe that needs to change because dang, girl can blog. Her reviews are highly intelligent, and examine the books at a level beyond superficial enjoyment.

Best Overall Book Blogger – Fadwa @ Word Wonders

I’ve been following Fadwa’s blog since way before I became a book blogger, and she’s just consistently been A+ at posting great content, interacting with her followers, learning and bettering herself, and overall just kicking ass and taking names at this book blogging business. Honestly one of the greatest days of my life as a book blogger was when Fadwa and I became mutuals!

  4. AaAAaHhhH tita!!!! I never actually expected I’ll ever see my name on a post like this. Being nominated by you??? What an honor! You are also one of my faves, FOR REAL. And you just don’t know what those words mean to me. They motivated me. ILY.💖

The thing is, today, 25th, is my 20th birthday! (Sucks. I’m officially an adult 😩) So I think I’ll be disqualified anyway haha. But still, being nominated brings so much joy to my heart.

And I also agree to your other nominated bloggers! Definitely would vote for them as well. They’re all amazing, and you too. 💖

  6. Kate 😭😭 I’ve felt like I’ve been the worst at talking to other bloggers and interacting with them, so seeing you nominate me for that particular category means the world (and I almost cried at your sweet words!) 💗 Thank you so so much for participating and I can’t wait to check out some of these other blogs that I haven’t heard of yet!!
