Your Tita’s Fave Romances

Belated happy Valentine’s Day guys, gals, and enby pals! I was busy last night (ya tita had a date!) and so I didn’t get to post this, but I did want to celebrate Valentine’s Day on my blog as well by sharing this list of romance recommendations!

I decided to divide this post into two parts. The first, Your Tita’s Fave Romances, talks about the romance novels I’ve read in the past year that I’ve absolutely enjoyed. The second, Your Tita’s Romance Wishlist, talks about the romance novels I have on my TBR that I desperately need to read! (Some of them came from Vicky’s list, which I’m plugging because she died writing that post y’all.)

☕ Like Nobody’s Watching by Tara Frejas – Featuring the original soft man Pio Alvez and the strong and independent Audrey Alonzo, this book was one of the first #romanceclass novels I read, and, as I always say, it set the bar for Filipino male love interests!

☕ A Duke by Default by Alyssa Cole – I joined in on the #swordbae love and never looked back. Plus, this book has some amazing ADHD rep!

☕ Mango Summer by Agay Llanera – A recent #romanceclass publication that hit all my sweet spots when it comes to nostalgia. Positively brimming with small town charm, this will make you yearn for Philippine summers like nothing else.

☕ How She Likes It by Carla de Guzman – Let’s just get this out of the way. Female CEOs? Meh. WOC CEOs? STAB ME IN THE NECK AND USE MY FACE AS A DRINK COASTER, I LOVE YOU.

☕ From Twinkle, With Love by Sandhya Menon The queen of contemporary Indian-American YA melts readers hearts with this cutesy-pie story about a budding filmmaker and the boy she doesn’t know likes her! It definitely turns some tired old teen movie tropes on its head and brings something fresh to the genre.

☕ What Kind of Day by Mina V. Esguerra – Mina’s love letter to the city of Manila, and a book that’s close to my heart because it perfectly encapsulates everything I felt working as a government employee. Seriously, if you’re a lost millennial who needs a love story to set them to rights again, read this book!

☕ A Gentleman in the Streets by Alisha Rai – Remember what I said about WOC CEOs? Totally applies here too. With the added bonus of the female MC giving the guy a telling-off because he treated her badly and pulled out the old “I liked you and didn’t know what to with that” excuse. The verbal beatdown is nothing short of iconic!

☕ Beginner’s Guide: Love and Other Chemical Reactions by Six de los Reyes – Ah, the book that began my love affair with #romanceclass. Want a romance featuring a woman in STEM with a Spock-like mind and a tattooed cutie who owns a coffee shop and is involved in the music scene? Definitely pick this up.

☕ The Princess Trap by Talia Hibbert CHERRY NEITA IS A FUCKIN’ GRADE-A QUEEN, ALL RIGHT? And also, that scene where she demands a black hair and makeup artist? Got me living!

☕ Empire of Sand by Tasha Suri – This fantasy romance will be especially appreciated by those who like slow-burn love spiced with themes of sacrifice and interdependence.

Your Tita’s Romance Wishlist

And here we have some romance titles on my TBR that I hope I get to read soon!

☕ The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon – I’ve been meaning to read this, and now that there’s a movie trailer, I’m definitely bumping this up my list!

☕ Let’s Talk About Love by Claire Kann – Ace rep y’all!

☕ Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch – My girl Shealea has read this, so now I’m curious!

☕ Wanna Bet? by Talia Hibbert – More Talia Hibbert goodness!

☕ Grumpy Fake Boyfriend by Jackie Lau – Another romance I’ve been seeing on Twitter and Romancelandia, so I need to get on this asap!

☕ The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory – I got an ARC from JM @ Book Freak Revolutions so I need to read this soon!

☕ Kiss and Cry by Mina V. Esguerra – The second in the Six 32 Central series by Mina V. Esguerra (the first was What Kind of Day, which I mentioned above). Thank you Mina for the ARC!

☕ Flipping the Script by Danice Mae P. Sison – The second in the Flicker series, #romanceclass’s YA imprint. Film as an industry is something that I find interesting, so I’m excited to read this! Thank you Danice for the ARC!

☕ Polaris Rising by Jessie Mihalik – Sci-fi romance!!! So there!

☕ Small Town Hearts by Lillie Vale – I read Vicky’s review and when I saw that this was an atmospheric small town novel, I knew I had to read this!

☕ What if It’s Us by Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli – I received a free copy in a giveaway last year and really, really need to get onboard this bandwagon!

☕ Nightchaser by Amanda Boucher – More sci-fi romance!!!

  1. I love these recommendations so much! From Twinkle with Love is high on my list, I love how you referred to it as “fresh.” Let’s Talk About Love is so, so good. I’m halfway through and loving this refreshing ace rep 💕

    • From Twinkle, With Love was such a cool new take on high schoolers falling in love. I’d definitely see a Netflix teen romcom adaptation of it!

I’ve been hearing nothing but good things about Let’s Talk About Love and its ace rep so I’m excited to read it!
